21_21 Design Sight is a museum in Roppongi in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, which opened in 2007. The museum, a design museum, was created by architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyake. The split-level concrete structure includes a hand-sanded steel roof (whose design was inspired by Issey Miyake's A-POC ("A Piece of Cloth") concept) and 14-meter (46 ft) long glass panels. The building is a low-rise structure consisting of one ground floor and one underground floor. Most of the volume of the building, which has a unique form featuring a roof made from giant steel plates that slope gently down to the ground, is buried underground.

The idea for the roof as one sheet of folded steel was inspired by Issey Miyake's A-POC "A Piece of Cloth" concept. The term "20/20 vision (or sight)" is used to describe perfect vision in English. 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT was named with our intention that it would be a venue which offers vision beyond 20/20 to see what is ahead.

The National Art Center (NACT) is a unique and innovative art exhibition facility in Roppongi, Tokyo. Within Tokyo Midtown's 68,900m2 expanse, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT is situated in Midtown Garden, the green area leading to Hinokicho Park, Minato-ku. This location was chosen as it was envisioned that people coming out to the garden would naturally enter the site.

It is read as "two-one two-one design sight."21_21 DESIGN SIGHT has its own symbol, a plaque called "The Product Logo," made of a sheet of metal. The plate, inspired by a style of address display panel seen anywhere in Japan, indicates this facility as being a "place" of design. This also represents something that we see all the time but never pay attention to.
For those of us that hold a great interest in architecture and design, the Design Sight behind Roppongi’s Tokyo Midtown ..
